US army report: North Korean cyber warfare unit has more than 6,000 hackers

A Pentagon report on North Korea’s military capabilities has been released, highlighting the work of a cyber warfare unit made up of thousands of hackers.

Cointelegraph reported that this country has a group of hackers located in different countries around the world, including China, India and Russia, who are responsible for many cyber attacks.

The US army report contains an entire сhapter devoted to electronic intelligence, which primarily focuses on efforts directly related to military capabilities. A separate section examines the country’s efforts in computer warfare and the three main methods of this subversive activity. They include countering the superior capabilities of foreign states, means of attacking a possible enemy, and how to destroy other countries in peacetime.

These attacks are carried out by hacking, in order to steal or obtain information by infecting systems with various illegal and malicious software.

The report specifically identifies the main group responsible for North Korea’s computer Subversion activities.

An organization called Bureau 121 is responsible for electronic attacks, and it is reported that in 2010, 1,000 elite hackers worked under its banner. It is believed that the North Korean College has trained and produced about 100 cyber space hackers every year, since 2009.
